>Click "Downloads"

>>>Click "Search" button
>>>>Click "iSeries Tools for Developers"
>>>>>You may need to register an IBM ID

>After download q5799ptl.zip (Instructions above)
1.  Unzip the q5799ptl.zip file that you downloaded.  After unzipping you will have a file called q5799ptl.savf
2.  Create a Save File on your i5/OS system with this command:  CRTSAVF FILE(QGPL/Q5799PTL)
3. FTP the q5799ptl.savf to your i5/OS system like so:
>ftp mysystem.mydomain
ftp> quote site namefmt 0
ftp> cd qgpl
ftp> bin
ftp> put q5799ptl.savf q5799ptl
ftp> quit
4. Install 5799PTL from the Save File with this command:  
RSTLICPGM LICPGM(5799PTL) DEV(*SAVF) LNG(2924) SAVF(QGPL/Q5799PTL)

Example

To setup VNC:
(1) Download and install the VNC viewer on your PC. Go to www.RealVNC.com
(2) Create a vnc password file on i5/OS
mkdir '/home/youruserid/.vnc'
QAPTL/VNCPASSWD USEHOME(*NO) PWDFILE('/home/youruserid/.vnc/passwd')
(3) Start the VNC server on i5/OS
STRPTL CLIENT(*VNC)
When the server starts you will see a message similar to the following:
New 'X' desktop is yoursystemname:1
(4) Next start the vncviewer you downloaded to your pc earlier:
VNC server: yoursystemname:1
